Rimini, Italy – Morocco has established itself as a major partner for Ecomondo, the leading trade fair for the ecological transition and the circular economy, held in Rimini, Italy, stated Alessandra Astolfi, International Director of Exhibitions and Head of the Green and Technology Division at the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG).
This strengthened collaboration was demonstrated by the recent organization of a roadshow in Casablanca, focusing on water management and the water cycle, as well as the links between Europe and Africa. The Kingdom is making significant investments to address water stress, Ms. Astolfi emphasized during a meeting with the international press on the sidelines of the 29th Ecomondo trade fair (November 3-6).
Several professionals specializing in the circular economy and water cycle sectors came from the Kingdom, which will host the event next year, on the occasion of the trade fair’s 30th anniversary. “We will be looking at this country with great interest for a stronger partnership,” she noted.
Regarding the African component, Ms. Astolfi announced that the Italian Exhibition Group, organizer of Ecomondo, has concluded an agreement with Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, an Italian association linked to all African embassies. She mentioned in this regard the specific themes of the trade fair, including energy, the sea, smart cities, wind power, and the energy transition.
For his part, the chairman of the trade fair’s Scientific and Technical Committee, Fabio Fava, emphasized the importance of Africa and the Mediterranean basin in Ecomondo’s international strategy, highlighting technological cooperation, the climate emergency, and the crucial role of African youth in the ecological transition.
After highlighting several priorities related to the collection, management, and recovery of urban waste, smart irrigation, and the integrated promotion of biowaste, particularly for soil refertilization, Mr. Fava emphasized the importance of investing in education and exchanges between universities.
Organized in collaboration with the European Commission, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the European Environment Agency, the 29th edition of Ecomondo features the 6th edition of the Africa Green Growth Forum, in partnership with the Mission Structure for the Implementation of the Mattei Plan of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo, and RES4Africa.
