Last week, Forbes published the results of the 2015 Country Reptrak Survey, conducted by the US-based Reputation Institute which ranks the world’s 55 most reputable countries.

According to the results, Morocco came in first above all the Arab World’s countries included in the list, as it ranked 33rd worldwide, followed by United Arab Emirates which landed the 35th place.

Egypt is the Arab World’s third reputable country after it ranked 42th, above Qatar (44th) and Saudi Arabia (49th). Algeria, on the other hand, came in close to last as it ranked in the 50th spot.

Canada has been ranked as the most admired country with the best reputation. This is the fourth time in five years that Canada got the top spot after slipping to number 2 last year behind Switzerland.

According to the survey, the annexation of Crimea and the Ukrainian crisis are costing Russia its reputation, worsening its downward trend leaving Russia in the 52nd spot.

On the other hand, the United States is midway in 22nd place, behind Thailand and just above Poland. The survey noted that the reputation of the US, which has been poor in earlier years, improved 20 percent under the Obama administration and is now stable.

The nations were measured on levels of trust, esteem, admiration, and respect based on an online panel of more than 27,000 people from the G8 countries.

The survey measures 16 qualities such as the country’s safety, beauty, friendliness of residents, progressive social and economic policies, and government effectiveness.
