Morocco-Spain: ‘If Illegal Migrants and Minors Are Not Returned, This is Entirely Spain’s Responsibility’ – FM

United Nations (New York) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, said on Thursday in New York that “if illegal migrants and minors are not returned, this is entirely Spain’s responsibility.”

Speaking to the press following talks with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Bourita stressed that Morocco’s position is based on key principles, including “its clear stance on the return of all illegal migrants and unaccompanied minors.”

“If illegal migrants and minors are not returned, the question should not be addressed to Morocco, but rather to Spain,” the minister said.

Bourita stated that this situation remains linked to “controversies, obstacles and difficulties on the Spanish side.”
