Marrakech – Technological advancements, the digitization of practices, and the strengthening of oral health prevention are at the heart of discussions at the 24th International and African Congress of Dental Medicine, which opened Friday in Marrakech with the participation of professionals, researchers, and experts from 25 countries.
Organized by the Moroccan Association for Oral Health Prevention, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, this scientific meeting, themed “Modern Dentistry Serving the Patient,” aims to highlight developments in diagnostic and therapeutic practices and ways to improve the quality of dental care.
Speaking at the event, Benoît Perrier, President of the French Union for Oral Health (UFSBD), emphasized the importance of integrating dental practice into a comprehensive healthcare approach, based on prevention, early detection, and patient support throughout their care journey.
He noted that the sustainable improvement of oral health depends, in particular, on the development of health education, the adoption of preventive behaviors from a young age, and the strengthening of the relationship between healthcare professionals and patients, in order to promote the early management of oral diseases.
Similarly, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive President and Founder of the UAE International Conference of Dentistry and Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC), highlighted the role of technological innovations and digital transformation in the evolution of dentistry, particularly in terms of diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning, and improved patient care.
He also highlighted the importance of promoting knowledge transfer and the sharing of expertise among professionals, scientific institutions, and stakeholders in the sector, with the aim of facilitating the adoption of new technologies and contributing to the development of more effective dental practices tailored to patients’ needs.
The program for this scientific event, which runs until October 25, includes 21 conferences, 16 practical workshops, and the presentation of more than 280 scientific papers in the form of oral presentations and posters.
The program offers practitioners and researchers the opportunity to exchange ideas on new treatment techniques, medical innovations, and the opportunities offered by digital technologies in the various specialties of dentistry.
The United Arab Emirates is participating in this edition as the guest of honor, represented in particular by AEEDC Dubai, an international congress and exhibition dedicated to dentistry.
This participation strengthens scientific and professional exchanges between Moroccan and international stakeholders in the sector.
Through this meeting, the Moroccan Association for Oral Health Prevention aims to contribute to the dissemination of a culture of prevention, the promotion of research and innovation, and the strengthening of professional skills, in a context marked by the rapid evolution of medical technologies and healthcare approaches.
This congress thus constitutes a platform for exchange between the Moroccan, African, and international scientific communities on ways to reconcile technological progress, prevention, and quality of care, with a view to a more patient-centered approach to dentistry.
