Morocco’s Trade with OIC Member States Exceeds $21 Billion in 2025 – Official

Istanbul – Morocco’s trade with member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) increased from approximately $9.5 billion in 2020 to more than $21 billion in 2025, within the framework of balanced partnerships based on the win-win principle.

These figures were announced on Monday in Istanbul by Youssef Zahoui, Director of International Trade Relations at the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy, on the occasion of the 42nd Ministerial Session of the OIC Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC).

In this context, he noted that the Kingdom is also working to strengthen its cooperation with OIC member countries in trade finance by enhancing coordination among their export credit guarantee agencies, the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation and the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit, with a view to establishing joint guarantee and re-guarantee mechanisms.

The official also underscored the importance of modernizing the trade preference system among member states and broadening its scope, as well as strengthening the exchange of experiences and expertise, particularly in digitalization and artificial intelligence. He expressed Morocco’s readiness to make the experience of Tamwilcom available to interested member countries.

Furthermore, Zahoui highlighted the important role of digitalization and artificial intelligence in accelerating the processing of trade documents and supporting exporters. He stressed that, in line with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is working to double the number of exporting companies through programs targeting new exporters, small and medium-sized enterprises, and cooperatives.

He noted that these efforts are part of a vision that places improving the business climate, promoting investment, and developing infrastructure and industrial facilities among the Kingdom’s national priorities, with a view to consolidating Morocco’s position as a logistics and industrial hub linking Africa with Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Zahoui also highlighted the importance of food security as a driver of stability and integrated local development, commending the cooperation established with the Islamic Organization for Food Security within the framework of joint Islamic action.

The two-day session is examining global economic developments and the situation of OIC member countries, as well as ways to develop a sustainable and competitive tourism sector.

Participants are also discussing ways to increase agricultural productivity, ensure food security and reduce poverty, in addition to strengthening cooperation in digital transformation.
