Morocco, Remarkable Country in Every Field- Writer Boualem Sansal

Rabat – Morocco is a remarkable country in every field, member of French Academy and writer Boualem Sansal said on Monday in Rabat, praising the remarkable transformations achieved by the Kingdom in the economic, cultural, scientific and agricultural sectors.

The Kingdom enjoys a positive international image, he noted, highlighting the “successful” development strategy adopted by Morocco.

The Kingdom has become an emerging country that has taken off and managed to develop, he pointed out in a statement to the press on the sidelines of a literary meeting held at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Mohammed V University in Rabat.

The writer stressed the importance of Morocco’s international standing and its appeal to investors, artists and intellectuals.

Speaking about his meeting with students, Sansal underscored the essential role of literature in raising awareness, fostering critical thinking and promoting the exchange of ideas, while highlighting intellectuals’ contribution to bringing peoples closer together.

During the meeting, Sansal revisited his intellectual journey and the circumstances that led him to literature.

The discussions explored several major works in his bibliography, notably “Le Village de l’Allemand,” “Rue Darwin,” “2084,” “La Fin du monde” and “La Légende.” The meeting also addressed the place of the French language in the Maghreb through his essay “Le français, parlons-en!”

The news website Le360 hosted writer Boualem Sansal in Casablanca on Thursday for a new edition of its “Le Grand Témoin” lecture series, moderated by journalist and columnist Karim Serraj.

The event provided an opportunity for an in-depth discussion of his career, his work and the issues that drive him.

Boualem Sansal revisited his books and personal journey. He also discussed the events that led him to settle in France, from his detention in Algeria to his release.
