Atif Tijani, a 23-year-old parliamentarian, embodies a generation determined to contribute to the rise of an emerging Morocco.

Ouarzazate – At just 23 years old, Atif Tijani is embarking on his political career at the highest levels of the national stage, having won a seat in the House of Representatives for the Ouarzazate constituency in the parliamentary elections of September 23.

This election demonstrates, if any proof were needed, the potential of Moroccan youth and their firm commitment to contributing to the consolidation of the democratic system, to the sustainable and inclusive development of all regions of the Kingdom, and to the advancement of an emerging Morocco.

Hailing from the commune of Taznakht (Ouarzazate province), the youngest member of parliament in the twelfth legislature secured one of the three available seats in the province, representing the Istiqlal Party (PI). This confirms the growing interest among Moroccan youth in participating in political life and contributing to public affairs.

Holding a baccalaureate in physical sciences, Atif pursued higher education in management, a course of study that introduced the young elected official to the business world and current economic challenges.

Alongside his academic pursuits, Atif became involved in local community organizations in Taznakht. This experience allowed him to gain firsthand knowledge of the daily challenges and expectations of the population, a large segment of which resides in rural areas. In these rural areas, development priorities are linked to strengthening infrastructure, improving access to basic services, and promoting income-generating activities.

This close connection with citizens and his understanding of the needs and specific characteristics of a region undergoing profound transformation were key elements of his election campaign. During his campaign, he presented a platform focused on boosting the province’s economy and promoting promising sectors such as renewable energy, tourism, and film.

Thus, the young elected official, who headed the local PI list in the Ouarzazate constituency, intends to dedicate himself throughout his parliamentary term to being, within the National Assembly, the voice of his region’s population and its concerns, and to contribute to the implementation of projects aligned with the province’s pressing needs in numerous priority sectors.

Aware of the importance of his victory in strengthening youth civic engagement and their participation in political decision-making, Atif believes his age is an asset, given the significant role of young people in public policies and government programs.

In a statement to MAP, the young MP outlined his mandate, which will be dedicated to advocating for priority development issues in the province of Ouarzazate and to continuously listening to the needs of the population, particularly in the areas of health and infrastructure, to meet the growing demand expressed by residents, especially women. Education will also be central to the young parliamentarian’s action plan, as he stated his determination to spare no effort in improving learning conditions for students in the province.

Aware of the expectations of Ouarzazate’s youth regarding employment and professional integration, Atif also expressed his firm commitment to utilizing all the institutional tools at his disposal within the House of Representatives to provide solutions that support investments and projects with a strong economic and social impact in the province and ultimately contribute to creating employment opportunities for this segment of society.

Despite the weight of the responsibility he is called upon to assume, the young Atif Tijani remains determined to carry out the mission entrusted to him properly and to live up to the trust placed in him by the voters of the province.
