King Mohammed VI Condemns Iranian Attacks on Jordan, Reaffirms Full Solidarity

King Mohammed VI sent a message of solidarity to King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan following the latest Iranian missile attacks against the Hashemite Kingdom, according to a communiqué from the Royal Cabinet .

The monarch conveyed both indignation and support as he addressed his Jordanian counterpart. “I have followed with great concern and indignation the news of the despicable Iranian missile attacks that targeted the territories of the brotherly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” he wrote, placing the strikes within “the continuity of Iran’s hostile attitude against your brotherly country and the Arab states of the Gulf.”Society news digest

The sovereign then set out Morocco’s position on the assault. “Faced with this dangerous event, I express to Your Majesty my strong condemnation and firm rejection of this unjustified criminal aggression,” he wrote, describing an attack that “aims to undermine the stability of your brotherly country and the security and safety of the courageous Jordanian people.”

King Mohammed VI also tied the two kingdoms’ security together. His message reiterated “the full solidarity of the Kingdom of Morocco with the brotherly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” along with “unwavering and unconditional support for all measures taken by the Jordanian authorities, under your wise leadership.” The monarch reaffirmed that “the security of Jordan is inseparable from the security of Morocco.”

The sovereign closed with confidence in Jordan’s resilience. He voiced his conviction that “the courageous Jordanian people will, under your wise leadership, overcome the consequences of these heinous aggressions, thanks to its recognized determination, solidarity and fearlessness.”

The message followed an overnight barrage against the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, also known as Al-Azraq, which hosts US forces in eastern Jordan. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) described a “punitive operation” targeting the site and vowed that the fight would continue.

Jordan’s armed forces reported engaging 20 ballistic missiles and intercepting 18, with two falling in open areas. No casualties were reported, and a US official described the strikes as ineffective.

The attack formed part of a widening confrontation between Washington and Tehran, now six months into war. Iran launched the missiles in retaliation for US forces destroying five Iranian oil tankers, which the American military called a response to Iranian strikes on a US warship.Morocco travel guide

The escalation rattled energy markets, with Brent crude climbing near $100 a barrel as fighting choked traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has controlled the waterway, which normally carries a fifth of global oil supplies, since the war began in February.
