The first edition of the “EMERGING Mediterranean” program, a platform for the emergence of Tech For Good leaders in the Mediterranean, has been officially launched, with the participation of Morocco.

A result of the work carried out during the preparatory forums for the Summit of the two shores which brought together civil societies from the 5+5 countries, the EMERGING Mediterranean is one of the major initiatives under “the Commitments for a new ambition in the Mediterranean”, signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the 5+5 dialogue countries, on the occasion of the Summit of the two shores held on June 24, 2019 in Marseille in the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron.

This program, which benefits from the financial support of the French Development Agency and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, was created to identify, accelerate and spread knowledge of the technological aspect of the Tech For Good in the Mediterranean, in order to increase its impact, highlight these models of success and, ultimately, contribute to the resilience of their societies.

On the occasion of a “Bootcamp des 2 Rives”, which will be held from November 27 to 29 between France and Morocco, in partnership with the Factory of Casablanca Startup and the campus of the French Development Agency, the most promising ten startups will be shortlisted. Five winning entrepreneurs will be selected by a jury on December 7 during the EMERGING Mediterranean Digital Conference, said a press release from the EMERGING Mediterranean.

These winners will benefit from the EMERGING Mediterranean support program, and will join the Social & Inclusive Business Camp (SIBC). These start-ups will then come, on April 7 and 8, 2021, to meet international investors in Marseille during the EMERGING Valley international summit to be held at the Palais du Pharo, according to the same source.
