Morocco’s Top Police Chief Receives Ambassador of State of Kuwait in Rabat

Rabat – Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi received Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Morocco Ahmed Abdel Rahman Al-Bakr on Thursday in Rabat.

This meeting forms part of the strong and historic fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Kuwait, and reaffirms the shared commitment to expanding the partnership toward broader and more inclusive horizons, according to a statement from the DGSN-DGST Hub.

These talks, part of ongoing coordination aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries, particularly in security areas of mutual interest, provided an opportunity to review joint working mechanisms to address new security challenges and to strengthen direct and effective channels of communication between Kuwaiti security services and their Moroccan counterparts, now a credible and reliable partner within international security cooperation frameworks, the same source noted.

These discussions helped both parties explore ways to promote the exchange of expertise and experiences in various police specialties, particularly in the fight against cross-border organized crime and terrorist threats.

On this occasion, both parties also spoke of developing joint training and capacity-building programs to contribute to promoting professional skills and the operational readiness of security officials in both countries.

This approach reflects the strategic orientation of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), which aims to maintain a sustainable openness to its regional and international environment and to consolidate Arab security partnerships.

It also reflects the firm commitment to implementing the enlightened vision of both countries’ Heads of State with a view to reinforcing the foundations of security and stability and safeguarding the supreme and shared interests of the two brotherly peoples.

At the close of this meeting, both parties reaffirmed their firm commitment to continuing their joint efforts and intensifying coordination at the operational and field levels in the areas of security and intelligence cooperation, in the service of security and peace, the statement adds.

They also agreed on the need to institutionalize this bilateral security cooperation through the upcoming signing of a security memorandum of understanding between the two countries, so that bilateral cooperation remains a key tool for bolstering Morocco and the State of Kuwait’s capacity to anticipate and address various security challenges and risks.
