Moroccan Banks Among Most Active in Arab World
The Moroccan banks are among the most active and wide-ranging Arab banks, said Joseph Torbey, president of the board of directors of the World Union of Arab Bankers (WUAB).
In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of the 20th session of the Arab banking congress, held on Nov. 19-20 in Beirut, Torbey underlined that the WUAB noted a remarkable dynamic in the Moroccan banking sector to expand abroad and become more developed and efficient.
The Moroccan banking sector, represented in this event by director general of the Professional Grouping of Moroccan Banks (GPBM) Abdelhadi Chaib Ainou, has recently witnessed a huge diversification in its products and an openness on promising markets, he added.
The 20th Arab banking congress, organized by the Arab Banking Union, opened on Thursday under the theme “A 2015-2020 road map for financial inclusion” with the attendance of finance ministers, governors of central banks and presidents of Arab banks.
