2026 African Championships: 26 medals for Morocco

The Moroccan national karate team delivered a strong performance at the 2026 African Karate Championships in Algeria, finishing third in the overall standings with a total of 26 medals: five gold, 14 silver, and seven bronze. Morocco’s medal tally grew steadily throughout the tournament, starting with three bronze medals on the opening day, followed by three gold, eight silver, and two bronze on day two, and another gold, five silver, and two bronze on day three. On the final day, the men’s Kata team—comprising Abderrahmane Chakir, Adam Rchouq, and Tijani Lamoum—clinched a gold medal, while the women’s Kata team of Aya En-Nesyry, Sanae Agalmam, and Israa Al-Kahiri secured silver. Competing across multiple age categories in both Kumite and Kata, the delegation’s achievement reflects an intensive year-round physical, technical, and mental preparation program conducted at the Bouznika training center under the supervision of the Royal Moroccan Karate Federation.
