Morocco Participates in the Congress of World and Traditional Religons in Kazakhstan

Moscow – Following instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Tawfiq participates in the 5th edition of the Congress of World and Traditional Religions held on 10 and 11 June in Astana, Kazakhstan, on “The dialogue of religious and political leaders in the service of peace and development.”

This conference which involved over 300 participants representing no less than 40 countries, was marked by the presence of United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

Speaking at the opening session of the Congress, the minister, who was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Kingdom in Kazakhstan with residence in Moscow Abdelkader Lacheheb, noted that the establishment of peace in the world is fundamentally based on the values ​​of justice and solidarity.

“Religious and political leaders must develop justice, solidarity and peace as three fundamental it is to take correlated to fulfill the wish of peace,” said Mr. Tawfiq, noting that policies must s inspire religious texts to define the fields of rights. It has, in this regard, said the Imams play a fundamental role in the achievement of development, peace and dialogue.

The Minister then noted that Kazakhstan illustrates perfectly the dialogue of cultures and religions, even becoming a model in this area as evidenced by the meeting, which seeks to encourage dialogue between religious and political leaders.

Earlier in his speech for the occasion, Nazarbayev stressed that the world faces today the challenges of communalism, especially over the last three years marked by an insidious desire to exploit religious affiliations to exacerbate divisions.

While condemning Islamophobic attempts to associate Islam with extremism and terrorism, Kazakh President called for the continuation of peace, coexistence, tolerance and forgiveness.
