Nador West Med Port Reinforces Morocco’s Standing at Heart of International Trade – Marsa Maroc Official

Iaazzanene Commune (Nador Province) – The launch of operations at the “East” container terminal at the Port of Nador West Med is set to reinforce Morocco’s position at the heart of international trade, said Reda Moukhli, Director of Development at Marsa Maroc.

This new port infrastructure falls fully in line with the Royal Vision aimed at strengthening Morocco’s position at the heart of international trade, he said in a statement to the press on the occasion of the launch Saturday in the Iaazzanene Commune (Nador province) by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, on High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, of operations at the first container terminal of the Nador West Med port, the inaugural step in operationalizing the Nador West Med industrial-port complex.

This is “an important moment” for Marsa Maroc, as it marks the start of its operations at this new port, which is set to become one of the main container transshipment hubs in the Western Mediterranean, Moukhli noted.

He stated that Marsa Maroc will operate the port’s two container terminals alongside its partners, MSC/Terminal Investment Limited and the shipping line CMA CGM, global leaders among container ship operators.

This infrastructure will increase Marsa Maroc’s handling capacity from 3 million to 9 million TEUs by 2030, Moukhli explained, noting that Marsa Maroc will also operate, starting in 2029, a terminal dedicated to handling general cargo to support the development of the planned industrial zone.
