Lalla Asmaa University, Model of Unique Inclusive Education Worldwide – Officials

Rabat – Lalla Asmaa University, inaugurated Thursday in Rabat by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, is a model of an inclusive institution unique in the world, where deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing students learn together alongside professionals from various sectors, according to several Moroccan and foreign officials.

This new university will promote scientific excellence and train professionals who are better equipped to care for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals who require close medical support and monitoring, they added in statements to the press during the inauguration ceremony.

In this regard, Prof. Abdelaziz Raji, Head of the ENT Department at the Mohammed VI University Hospital (CHU) in Marrakech, affirmed that Lalla Asmaa University will expand educational opportunities for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, adding that this one-of-a-kind institution will offer the opportunity to receive high-quality training to ensure, in the future, the availability of high-level expertise dedicated to the care of the deaf and hard of hearing.

Lalla Asmaa University has forged partnerships with international institutions that have extensive experience and a proven track record in this type of training, added Prof. Raji, who is also a member of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation’s Technical and Scientific Committee, noting that this collaboration will strengthen the Foundation’s mission, particularly in the fields of hearing aids and audiology.

For his part, François Pierrot, Vice President for International Relations at the University of Montpellier, highlighted the importance of the partnership and collaboration with Lalla Asmaa University, which focuses in particular on the development of new training modules and new research protocols.

This promising collaboration will provide patients, particularly children, in Morocco, France, and elsewhere around the world with solutions to hearing problems, he emphasized.

For her part, the Director of IHU reConnect and the Institute of Hearing (Institut Pasteur), Prof. Anne-Lise Mamessier Giraud, stated that the collaboration with Lalla Asmaa University will contribute to the organization of teaching and the structuring of scientific research.

As for Loubna Tricha, Director General of the Office for Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT), she emphasized that the inclusive school for trades and vocational training, part of Lalla Asmaa University, provides an additional annual capacity of 1,244 student slots across several distinct training programs and specializations.

Tricha noted that this school is the third institution established as part of the partnership between the Lalla Asmaa Foundation and OFPPT, following the Tangier center, which opened in 2023, and the Meknes center (2025).

In addition to technical facilities, the school also houses classrooms dedicated to theoretical instruction and shared spaces for developing soft skills, enabling students to acquire entrepreneurial, digital, and language skills, she explained.
