Casablanca – The play “Le Rôti,” a comedy by Amanda Sthers, was presented Thursday evening at the Studio des Arts Vivants in Casablanca, as part of the 15th edition of the Théâtreles festival. The play offered the audience a performance where humor blends with reflections on prejudice and human relationships.
Directed by Benjamin Elharrar and starring Samy Berry, Vanessa Fery, Valentin Giard, and Louise Cassin, this comedy tells the story of a dinner party among friends that turns into a settling of scores following a disagreement among the guests. This situation gives rise to a series of misunderstandings and lively exchanges about religion, prejudice, and living together.
In a statement to MAP, actor Samy Berry, who plays Mehdi, emphasized that this comedy of manners addresses, in a lighthearted tone, situations of discrimination and prejudices that persist in society, while inviting the audience to be open to other ways of thinking.
For her part, actress Louise Cassin, who plays Mélanie, explained that her character illustrates everyday prejudices, expressed without a true awareness of their impact, specifying that the difficulty of this role lies in conveying this naiveté without portraying Mélanie as fundamentally malicious.
As for director Benjamin Elharrar, he announced that this comedy, which is enjoying great success with Parisian audiences, combines humor and reflection on religion and prejudice, adding that it is now embarking on an international tour.
Playing at the Comédie Saint-Martin in Paris since December 2025, where it is scheduled until May 2027, “Le Rôti” was presented in Casablanca by Top Event Production as part of the 15th edition of the Théâtrales festival. The play will also be performed in Marrakech on Friday, October 16th.
