El Jadida Horse Show: Artist Kamilya Zarkani Exhibits Her Works Celebrating the Beauty of the Horse

El Jadida – Painter Kamilya Zarkani is exhibiting her latest works, highlighting the beauty of the horse and the richness of Morocco’s equestrian heritage, at the 17th El Jadida Horse Show.

In this exhibition, the artist makes the horse her central theme, sublimating it with her brush and revealing its many facets through her creative spirit.

Through seven canvases, the artist, employing various visual arts techniques, delicately explores the fascinating equestrian world, where elegance, graceful movement, freedom, and pride intertwine.

In a statement, Kamilya Zarkani said she was “happy and proud” to participate for the first time in the El Jadida Horse Show, an event that represents a great cultural wealth and has “nourished my artistic inspiration.”

As part of this participation, “I created a series of seven paintings dedicated to the Moroccan horse and the tbourida,” she noted, adding that these works explore the profound bond between horse and rider, encompassing passion, loyalty, courage, and complicity, while also highlighting the horse’s power and its role throughout history.

According to the artist, her work in this exhibition revolves around strong and symbolic colors, particularly black and gold. “Black evokes the depth of night, while gold conveys the grandeur, power, and richness of Moroccan heritage.”

In her canvases, she added, “Arabic letters complement this composition, echoing the richness of our civilization and its cultural legacy.”

“Through my paintings, I seek to express all the beauty of the horse, its strength, its courage, and its yearning for freedom,” she stated, noting that beyond its aesthetic dimension, the horse also embodies essential values such as patience, discipline, and respect.

For Kamilya Zarkani, her artistic approach is not limited to the historical significance of the horse, particularly in battles, where its power and endurance were major assets. She is also interested in the human relationship that develops between horse and rider.

Furthermore, the visual artist emphasizes her deep connection to the horse, which, in addition to being a major source of artistic inspiration, is an animal that fascinates her with its beauty, elegance, and loyalty.

Born in Ouazzane, Kamilya Zarkani is a self-taught painter who has participated in several solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.

Held until October 18th at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park in El Jadida, the El Jadida Horse Show is a renewed event dedicated to showcasing Morocco’s equestrian heritage, promoting its richness and diversity, and strengthening the Kingdom’s international standing in the equestrian field.

Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this event, organized by the Horse Show Association, is taking place this year under the theme “The Horse in Service to Humankind,” highlighting the diverse roles horses have played throughout history and the profound bonds that unite them with humankind in various fields.
