Scientific Knowledge and Professional Conscience: Guarantees of Excellence for Future Dentists (University Leader)

Rabat – The acquisition of solid scientific skills, combined with the development of genuine professional conscience, is an essential prerequisite for future dentists, emphasized Nawal Bouyahyaoui, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine (FMD) of Rabat, on Tuesday in Rabat.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the 40th class of the FMD, Ms. Bouyahyaoui stressed the importance of continuing education and scientific research for dentists as levers for promoting dentistry and better meeting society’s needs in this field.

“Beyond scientific expertise, the Faculty of Dental Medicine ensures that its graduates are responsible, compassionate, respectful, and ethical dentists. All of this is for the benefit of the population, to provide them with the best oral healthcare and preventative care,” noted Ms. Bouyahyaoui.

This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the Faculty’s history, the Dean continued, explaining that since its founding in 1981, the institution has acquired extensive scientific and academic experience and contributed to the training of nearly 3,500 Moroccan dentists, both civilian and military, as well as graduates from various partner and allied countries.

Ms. Bouyahyaoui also highlighted the efforts undertaken to promote the national healthcare system, in accordance with the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at reforming and modernizing this system and improving the quality of services offered to citizens.

For his part, the President of Mohammed V University in Rabat, Mohammed Rhachi, emphasized that Morocco, under the Royal impetus, has undertaken a profound transformation of its healthcare system, extending the major project of universal social protection.

“Within this ecosystem, oral health is fully regaining its place in this ambition and the momentum already underway. It is, in fact, an integral component of the health and quality of life of our citizens,” he explained.

He added that Mohammed V University in Rabat, directly impacted by the scope of the reforms undertaken, is implementing adapted curricula and strengthening its training capacities in order to have a qualified human capital capable of sustainably supporting the transformation of the healthcare system.

The graduation ceremony for the 40th class illustrates the diversity of expertise offered by the institution and testifies to the University’s attractiveness and academic influence beyond its borders.

This ceremony, held in the presence of several dignitaries, students, and their families, who came to celebrate this significant milestone in the graduates’ lives, featured the screening of a corporate film from the Faculty, musical performances, and the presentation of awards to the top students in each graduating class. This rich program highlighted the Faculty’s commitment to education across its various programs, which boast 157 new graduates.
