Skhirat – The services of civil protection mobilized additional equipment resources in search operations to find the five missing children on a beach near Oued Cherrate where six children were killed by drowning.
The services of civil protection within the Regional Directorate of Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer has thus mobilized for this operation five zodiacs, lifeguards and jet ski, an ambulance, further 50 items of its services .
For their part, the services of the Royal gendarmerie have also mobilized a large staff and two helicopters, in addition to members of the Auxiliary Forces.
According to local authorities, the victims are part of a group of 46 members of a sports association in the province of Ben Slimane, mostly children aged 12 to 17, who participated in a tour in this region.
The Interior Minister, Mohamed Assad, went on Sunday to oversee the search and rescue operations on high instructions of HM King Mohammed VI.
An investigation was opened into the incident under the supervision of the competent prosecutor.
HM the King had sent messages of condolence and sympathy to the victims’ families and gave his high instructions to the relevant security and territorial governments and health services to take all necessary steps to assist victims, search for missing and provide all forms of assistance and support necessary to the bereaved families as a sign of compassion for their pain and to alleviate their suffering.
The Sovereign also decided to take charge personally of the spoils of transport costs, their burial and funeral.
