Morocco King received and decorated OHCHR commissioner
His Majesty King Mohammed VI   received Tuesday at the Royal Palace in Casablanca , Ms. Navi Pillay, High Commissioner of the United Nations Human Rights (HCHR) , said a press release from the Royal Cabinet .
 
At this occasion, His Majesty the King decorated the High Commissioner with Wissam Al Alaoui, Grand Officer , ” in honor of her strong commitment and recognition of her  active role in the promotion and advocacy of human rights during her tenure at the head of the High Commissioner of the UN, ” the statement of the Royal Cabinet said.
 
The Sovereign also ” welcomed the action  of Pillay to strengthen the credibility of OHCHR’s work , improve its operational capabilities , reforming the treaty body system and give more visibility to new issues such as the fight against discrimination and intolerance and the rights of migrants , “says the same source.
 
For her part, Ms. Pillay has ” welcomed the significant progress and efforts made ​​by the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty the King, for the noble cause of human rights in their overall sense ,”
 
” The discussions focused in particular on the emergence of new generations of human rights and the need to promote them ,” noted the cabinet press release.
 

The hearing was attended by the Director of OHCHR in Mena region, Mr. Hani Magali , Adviser to His Majesty the King Fouad Ali El Himma and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation , M . Salaheddine Mezouar. UN Human right commissioner Navi Pillay
