Moroccan Sahara: Romania Reaffirms Support for Autonomy Plan as the Most Suitable Basis for a Definitive Solution

Rabat – Romanian Foreign Minister Dan Neculăescu reaffirmed, during a telephone conversation Tuesday with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, that the autonomy plan presented by Morocco constitutes “the most suitable, serious, credible, and realistic basis” for reaching a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

The Romanian Foreign Minister welcomed Morocco’s constructive engagement in this regard.

This conversation also allowed the two ministers to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, building on the historical ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions also focused on upcoming Francophonie events, including the next Summit and the Romanian candidacy for the position of Secretary General of the International Organisation of the Francophonie (OIF).
