Junior Pro Taghazout Bay to Host WSL Europe & Africa’s Top Young Surfers in November

Agadir – The World Surf League (WSL) Europe and Africa will return to Morocco for the Junior Pro Taghazout Bay, scheduled to take place from November 11 to 15 as part of the Junior Qualifying Series (JQS).

The competition will bring together the best European and African surfers under the age of 20 at the iconic Anchor Point surf spot, the WSL said in a statement.

Over the years, Taghazout Bay has established itself as one of the most internationally renowned surfing destinations, thanks to its waves, its exceptional surfing conditions and its reputation for hospitality, the statement added.

The WSL Junior Tour gives athletes the opportunity to compete against the best surfers of their generation, gain valuable international competition experience and progress towards the highest levels of professional surfing, with the Championship Tour as their ultimate goal.

“We are very happy to return to Taghazout Bay,” said Rob Gunning, WSL Europe Tour Manager, as quoted in the statement. He added that “this event promises to bring the European Junior Qualifying Series season to a spectacular close.”

For his part, Luqmaan Bruce, WSL Africa Tour Manager, noted that Taghazout Bay “is one of the most exciting stops on the African calendar.” He added that “the quality of the waves, combined with the richness of the cultural experience, makes this competition a particularly memorable milestone in the careers of many young African surfers destined to compete at the highest professional level.”

The Junior Pro Taghazout Bay will be the fifth and final event of the 2026 season for the WSL Europe region. The competition results will determine the WSL Europe junior champions and identify the athletes who qualify for the 2026 WSL World Junior Championships (WJC).

Following the European rankings, the top two male surfers and the top two female surfers will earn their places at the WSL World Junior Championships, which will take place in El Salvador from November 25 to 29.

To determine the final standings, each surfer’s three best results from the season’s five events will be counted. These rankings will determine the two male and two female surfers who qualify for the WSL World Junior Championships (WJC).

The 2026 WSL World Junior Championships will bring together the world’s best surfers under the age of 20 in Surf City, El Salvador, from November 25 to 29, where they will compete for the world junior titles.
