The 6th National Apple Fair Opens in Midelt

Midelt – The 6th National Apple Fair (SAPOM 2026) kicked off on Thursday in Midelt, with the participation of more than 150 exhibitors, including cooperatives and key players in the apple industry.

The opening ceremony of this event, which runs until October 11, took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture, Redouane Arrach, the Governor of the Midelt Province, Abdelwahab Fadhil, the President of the Drâa-Tafilalet Regional Council, Hro Abro, elected officials, and other dignitaries.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this edition is organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, and in coordination with the Prefecture of Midelt, under the theme “Apple Sector: Opportunities for the Integrated Territorial Development of Mountainous Areas.”

Organized by the SAPOM association in partnership with local, regional, and national stakeholders, this event provides a platform for exchanging experiences and expertise, exploring investment opportunities, and strengthening partnerships between farmers, cooperatives, professionals, and public and private institutions.

Spanning an area of 5,500 m², the exhibition includes, in addition to the agricultural consultation area, several themed areas: “Institutional Area,” “Apple and Derivatives Exhibition Area,” “Local Products Area,” “Agricultural Supplies Area,” and “Agricultural Machinery Area.”

This edition also provides a space for the guest of honor, namely the regions of Sidi Ayad, Rich, and Mzizel, to showcase the natural advantages of these production areas, their skilled workforce, and their promising agricultural projects, while highlighting the development and investment opportunities they offer.

Similarly, a dedicated children’s area offers various educational workshops and fun activities, aiming to raise awareness among this segment of society about the importance of agriculture and the environment, in an atmosphere that combines learning and entertainment.

The organization of the National Apple Fair is part of a broader effort to promote local agricultural products, strengthen the competitiveness of production sectors, and continue efforts toward sustainable rural development, particularly in mountainous areas.
