Rabat – The second leg of the 15th edition of the Morocco Royal Tour (MRT) show jumping competition kicked off on Thursday. Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the tour runs until October 11 at the Royal Equestrian Sports and Tbourida Complex Dar Essalam in Rabat.
The first day’s competitions featured four show jumping events: two two-star “CSI2*” classes with jumps of 1.25 meters and 1.35 meters, and two four-star “CSIO4*-W” classes with jumps of 1.40 meters and 1.45 meters.
For four days, sport and excitement will be on full display, with 216 riders and 409 horses representing 16 nations: Morocco, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Monaco, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Arab Emirates.
A total of 14 events are scheduled, including eight CSIO4*-W events and six CSI2* events.
The highlights of this sporting weekend will be the CSIO4*-W Grand Prix, the Prix Feue SAR la Princesse Lalla Amina, to be held on Friday, October 9; the CSI2* Grand Prix on Saturday, October 10; and, as the grand finale, the Nations Cup on Sunday, October 11. The Rabat CSIO will also offer three evening events, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, starting at 8:00 PM.
Open to the public and free of charge, the Rabat leg also features an exhibitors’ village, showcasing various aspects of equestrian sports and Moroccan crafts.
The first leg of the 15th Morocco Royal Tour was held from October 1st to 4th at the Hipica arena in Tetouan, before concluding in El Jadida from October 15th to 18th.
