Royal Air Maroc, Boeing Seal Partnership Agreement at Marrakech Airshow 2026

Marrakech – A partnership agreement was signed on Thursday between Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing, on the sidelines of the 8th Marrakech Airshow, held on October 7-10 at the Royal Armed Forces Air Base in Marrakech.

Inked by Boeing’s regional president for the Middle East and North Africa Fahad Al Mheiri and director of RAM’s flight operations division Naoual Ait Hammou, this agreement covers the cabin refurbishment of seven B787-8 aircraft acquired by the national carrier brand-new between 2015 and 2018.

This project seeks to upgrade the interiors of these aircraft to further improve the in-flight experience, while bringing them in line with the high comfort standards that characterize the long-haul aircraft recently added to the airline’s fleet.

These seven aircraft form part of RAM’s long-haul fleet, which includes six other Boeing 787-9 aircraft. This long-haul fleet operates long-distance flights, connecting the airline’s hub in Casablanca to distant destinations and major international cities, notably in North America, such as Los Angeles and New York; in South America, such as São Paulo; and in Asia, such as Beijing.

The B787-8 aircraft have a capacity of 274 seats, while the B787-9s offer greater capacity, exceeding 300 seats. In total, the airline’s long-haul fleet consists of 12 aircraft.

In a statement to the press, Ait Hammou noted that the national carrier has expanded its fleet as part of its development plan, bringing the total to 71 aircraft, a historic record never before achieved by the company, and added that by the end of 2026, the fleet is expected to number 73 aircraft.

RAM has a comprehensive strategy through 2037, which aims to expand the national carrier’s fleet to 200 aircraft, all brand-new and equipped with high-quality cabins, Ait Hammou continued.

In a similar statement, Al Mheiri emphasized that Boeing and RAM have maintained a partnership for more than 70 years, noting in this context the national airline’s satisfaction with the American manufacturer’s aircraft.

Boeing is preparing to launch a project to refurbish the interiors of RAM’s aircraft as part of preparations for the upcoming World Cup, he noted, adding that this project seeks to provide the airline’s customers with an optimal experience.
