Casablanca – Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will equip 41 of its aircraft with the Starlink high-speed connectivity solution, available free of charge to all members of the Safar Flyer program, a major step forward in transforming the passenger experience, making the national carrier the first on the African continent to offer an ultra-fast, uninterrupted connection, made possible by the world’s most advanced satellite constellation.
The rollout will begin in early 2027, with a gradual expansion across the entire fleet to ensure optimal operational continuity, the airline said in a press release.
Once the system is installed, Royal Air Maroc passengers will enjoy ultra-high-speed internet access, allowing them to stream content, communicate, work in real time, and stay connected throughout the flight, the same source added.
“This ambition is part of a multi-year plan that includes fleet renewal, cabin redesign, and a complete modernization of the customer experience, both on the ground and on board,” Royal Air Maroc’s Chairman and CEO, Hamid Addou explains.
For her part, Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Commercial Operations for Starlink at SpaceX, notes that RAM’s decision to introduce Starlink into its fleet marks an important milestone for aviation in Africa.
In-flight connectivity is a key driver of Royal Air Maroc’s customer experience strategy. Through this new service, the national flag carrier is meeting a growing need for continuous connectivity among a broad and diverse customer base that includes business travelers, members of the diaspora, students, and tourists.
