Marrakech – Thanks to the foresighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco’s aerospace sector has made a significant leap, moving from mere assembly to manufacturing and advanced engineering, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi stated Wednesday in Marrakech.
Speaking at the opening session of the 8th Marrakech Airshow, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Loudyi noted that the aerospace sector, along with all associated technologies, is now poised to become a key driver of national industrial capabilities.
This initiative also helps Morocco, an emerging player, to contribute to the promoting global production chains in this sector, while enhancing its appeal to major international corporations, including Boeing, Airbus, and Pratt & Whitney, Loudyi said.
On another note, Loudyi highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to bolster the defense industry, particularly through the establishment of a legal framework that has served as the foundation propelling Morocco into the defense sector, culminating in the creation of dedicated industrial zones equipped with modern logistics infrastructure and services tailored to the specific needs of these industries.
To encourage these industries, part of strategic investments, several incentive measures have been adopted, alongside comprehensive support for investors, which has helped enhance attractive investment, he noted, adding that this momentum has culminated in the launch of several industrial projects with a diverse range of international partners, aimed at producing, supplying, and preparing military equipment and services to meet the Kingdom’s domestic demand or for export.
The official further noted Morocco is deeply committed to developing this sector and putting in the necessary efforts and resources to make it a true lever for bolster ties with its partners, by shifting from a model of importing defense capabilities to building national defense capabilities and sovereignty, and by enshrining the Kingdom’s positioning in this field.
The 2026 Marrakech Airshow, held until October 10, highlights the growth of Morocco’s aerospace industry and the diversity of its activities, particularly in the fields of engineering, maintenance, avionics, digitization, and research and development, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the national industrial ecosystem’s capabilities and its positioning within the aviation industry’s strategic value chains.
