Rabat – The Central Committee of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) unanimously mandated the party’s political bureau in order to manage the next step of consultations to form the government.
This decision was taken during the extraordinary session held on Tuesday at the party’s headquarters, following debates by its members and a request presented by PPS Secretary General Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah on mandating the political bureau to manage the next step.
In this respect, the Central Committee points out that the party’s participation in the new government is “dictated by the presence of political conditions and clear programs, so as to enable it to effectively contribute to the management of the next step and the implementation of its national priorities, mainly in developing socio-economic conditions and strengthening the democratic choice.”
Speaking on this occasion, Benabdallah said that the consultations led by the party with the appointed Head of Government, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, revealed a “broad convergence” with several of the PPS’s key positions, reflecting a shared commitment to building a new reformist momentum capable of addressing the pressing political, economic, and social challenges.
“The PPS’s stance remains contingent on the existence of clear commitments and concrete guarantees regarding several major challenges,” he stated, emphasizing the urgent need for a Parliament and a government capable of rising to the challenges of the current phase, as well as a political class capable of learning from the parliamentary elections and listening to society’s expectations by offering prospects for hope through tangible achievements.
The PPS SG also underlined the priority granted to economic and social questions, issues of the youth and employment, as well as the fight against inflation and rising prices.
