Moroccan people celebrate HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa’s birthday on Tuesday

Rabat – The Royal Family, and with them the Moroccan people, celebrate HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa’s birthday on Tuesday, an occasion to highlight Her Royal Highness’s various social initiatives and her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of children with special needs, particularly deaf and hard-of-hearing children.

A princess with a big heart, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa has been involved in social activism since a young age, constantly striving to improve the well-being of deaf and hard-of-hearing children and undertaking initiatives to contribute to their integration into society as full-fledged citizens.

As President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, Her Royal Highness is deeply concerned about this vulnerable group, showing them great care and providing invaluable support to this pioneering institution in the care of these children.

Indeed, under the leadership of HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, the Foundation conducts programs with national and international reach, leading to the emergence of a unique Moroccan model of inclusion that supports every deaf or hard-of-hearing child, from early detection to academic success. This comprehensive medical, educational, and social model is championed by the Lalla Asmaa Foundation.

The unwavering support that HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa continues to demonstrate towards deaf and hard-of-hearing children is a testament to Her Royal Highness’s ongoing commitment to various initiatives with a humanitarian and social impact.

Thus, on September 15th, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, and Her Excellency Mrs. Rachel Ruto, First Lady of the Republic of Kenya and President of the Voice of Children Foundation, visited Kenyan and Moroccan patients at the Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Rabat. These patients had received cochlear implants as part of the fourth phase of the international program “United, We Understand Each Other Better” and the national campaign “NASMAA.”

On the same day, Her Royal Highness presided over a luncheon at the Royal Guest Palace in Rabat, hosted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in honor of the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya and her accompanying delegation.

The day before, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa welcomed Ms. Rachel Ruto at Rabat-Salé Airport for the start of a working visit to the Kingdom.

Furthermore, on June 30th, Her Royal Highness presided over the closing ceremony of the 2025-2026 academic year at the Lalla Asmaa Foundation headquarters in Rabat. The Foundation has established itself as a national and international leader in supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing children.

On June 16th, Her Royal Highness presided over the first Patient Day in Rabat, a commendable initiative that encapsulates twenty years of the Foundation’s commitment to serving deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families. It also marked the launch of the “Hearing Aids for All” program, which aligns with the national “NASMAA” program and the international “United: We Hear Each Other Better” program.

On December 12, 2025, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa presided over the opening ceremony of the 1st African Congress on Cochlear Implantation for Children at Mohammed VI University of Health Sciences in Rabat. This major event marked a significant step in establishing a true African hub dedicated to childhood deafness and cochlear implants.

Four days earlier, in Meknes, Her Royal Highness inaugurated the “Princess Lalla Asmaa” Center, a regional center of excellence providing comprehensive and entirely free care for deaf and hard-of-hearing children from the surrounding towns and villages.

On November 4 of the same year, HRH Princess Lalla Asmaa arrived in Nairobi for a two-day working visit at the invitation of Her Excellency Mrs. Rachel Ruto, First Lady of the Republic of Kenya. The following day, Her Royal Highness and Mrs. Rachel Ruto, President of the Voice of Children Foundation, launched the fourth phase of the “United, We Understand Each Other Better” program at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.

On the same day, the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, Mrs. Rachel Ruto, hosted a dinner at the Presidential Palace in Nairobi in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa, President of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation.

Cultural and sporting activities are also central to the concerns of Her Royal Highness, who is also the Honorary President of the Foundation.
