Marrakech: Morocco crowned African and World Billiards Champion 2026

Marrakech – The Moroccan national billiards team won the African and World Championship titles in the sport on Saturday evening in Marrakech.

At the 2026 World Billiards Championship, the national team defeated Northern Ireland 11-9 in the final.

The team final was particularly hard-fought between the two teams, who engaged in a close duel before the national team emerged victorious, securing its second world title after its first in 2014.

The Moroccan national billiards team had qualified for the final of the 2026 World Billiards Championship by defeating Wales 11-7.

In a statement to MAP, the national team coach, Yasser El Amrani, emphasized that this victory was the result of the players’ hard work throughout the competition, especially against strong teams.

For his part, national team player Abderrahmane Cherfi noted, in a similar statement, that the national players demonstrated great focus and a strong competitive spirit throughout the various matches, culminating in a world title won on home soil.

Organized from September 17 to 27 under the auspices of the Ultimate Pool Association (UPA) and the International Eightball Pool Federation (IEPF), the 2026 African and World Billiards Championships brought together nearly 300 players representing some 18 countries, who competed in 24 categories, including team, individual, doubles, and Masters events.
