Development, Job Creation Top Istiqlal Party Agenda Ahead of Sept. 23 Elections – Party SG

Laayoune – Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party (PI) Nizar Baraka said Sunday evening in Laayoune that accelerating development and creating jobs are among his party’s top priorities.

Speaking at a rally held as part of the electoral campaign for the September 23 legislative elections, Baraka highlighted the launch of a new generation of programs and projects aimed at providing a strong economic and social boost to Morocco and its southern provinces.

He noted that this new dynamic is based notably on structuring projects, as well as initiatives related to green hydrogen, phosphates and green fertilizers, renewable energy, seawater desalination and the mobilization of water resources for irrigation.

These various projects, he added, are expected to contribute to strengthening food and energy security, as well as developing digital security.

At the regional level, the PI proposes creating more direct and indirect employment opportunities and expanding local companies’ access to subcontracting activities, services and supply chains.

This approach also aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives and youth-led initiatives, in order to make investment in the region a genuine driver of job creation and local development.

Other regional priorities include housing construction, as well as the establishment of an integrated higher education university in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region.

In this regard, the party advocates establishing a National School of Business and Management (ENCG) in Laayoune to provide high-level academic training.

The rally also featured a presentation of the main outlines of the party’s electoral program, as well as its male and female candidates in the electoral constituencies of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, in the presence of local and provincial party officials and leaders.

These commitments notably include strengthening family cohesion and resilience, combating corruption, rent-seeking and conflicts of interest, improving household purchasing power and strengthening the middle class.

Supporting and strengthening the role of public services within the social state, particularly in education and healthcare, as well as reinforcing strategic sovereignty, are also among the main areas addressed.
