157th Diplomatic Hub in Rabat Hosts Finance Minister

Rabat – The 157th session of the Diplomatic Hub hosted the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, on Wednesday in Rabat, in the presence of ambassadors and representatives from over 60 countries and international organizations.

Organized under the theme “Moroccan Economy and International Partnerships: What New Levers for Investment and Inclusive and Sustainable Development?”, this meeting is part of a series of gatherings organized by the Diplomatic Foundation. These events are designed to highlight the development projects and strategic initiatives undertaken by Morocco, as well as to anticipate future issues and challenges.

In his opening remarks, the President of the Diplomatic Foundation, Abdelati Habek, said that Morocco has succeeded in recent years in consolidating its position as a regional economic and investment hub. This is thanks to its strategic geographical position and infrastructure, the free-trade agreements concluded with several international markets, and its political and institutional stability.

The Moroccan economy has demonstrated notable positive development and resilience in the face of successive global shocks and rapid economic fluctuations, as well as recurring geopolitical crises and climate challenges, the Foundation’s president explained. He noted that the Moroccan experience stands out for its ability to transform challenges into genuine opportunities for reform.

Economic and investment diplomacy now constitutes an essential component of contemporary diplomatic action, a major bridge between politics and the economy, and a space for exchanging expertise, building partnerships, and exploring new areas of cooperation, Habek explained. 

He pointed out that the next challenge for Morocco consists of directing investments toward promising sectors and industries of the future, with the goal of strengthening the national economy’s competitiveness and consolidating the foundations of sustainable and inclusive growth.

For her part, Fettah reviewed the various projects and reforms initiated by the Kingdom to enhance the attractiveness of the national economy. These include the implementation of the new Investment Charter, the improvement of the business climate, the promotion of private investment, the development of public-private partnerships, and the channeling of investments toward high value-added sectors.

In this regard, the minister emphasized that despite an international environment marked by multiplying crises and geopolitical tensions, the Moroccan economy has shown resilience thanks to the continuation of reforms and the maintenance of macroeconomic balances, while simultaneously boosting investment and the competitiveness of the national economy.

She also welcomed the generalization of medical coverage, “which has benefited broad categories of citizens in record time,” in addition to the creation of university hospitals across all regions of the Kingdom. She highlighted the importance of territorial equity through regional development models and major structural projects aimed at stimulating inclusive development, such as the ports of Nador and Dakhla.

This meeting provided an opportunity for ambassadors accredited to Morocco and representatives of international organizations to learn about the Moroccan experience in strengthening economic resilience and establishing the foundations of a social state. It also showcased the achievements made by the Kingdom in the fields of development and investment, which are based on modernizing the business climate, enshrining territorial equity, and tackling climate challenges. This was achieved through an open debate that allowed for responses to various questions related to the themes raised.
