Covid-19: (129) New Cases in Morocco, 6,870 in Total
A total of 129 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Morocco over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the country to 6,870, the Ministry of Health announced Sunday, adding that 173 recoveries were recorded over the given period.
No new coronavirus related death was registered over the past 24 hours and the number of fatalities remains at 192, Director of epidemiology at the Ministry of Health, Mohamed El Youbi, said in a statement broadcast by MAP on its M24 TV channel M24 and RIM Radio.
The death rate has reached 2.8%, he said, adding that 173 new recoveries were registered until Sunday at 4:00 p.m., which rises the number of cured people to 3,660.
The recovery rate has further increased to reach 53,3%, El Youbi noted.
The number of excluded cases following negative tests in the past day has reached 4,824, the official added.
Ninety-nine of the new cases were detected in three clusters located in the region of Casablanca-Settat, El Youbi said, adding that 84% of the new cases were reported through contact tracing.
According to him, 109 new cases were registered among people who had contact with confirmed cases.
Regarding the geographical spread of the virus, Casablanca-Settat region remains the worst hit with 30% of the total cases, followed by Marrakech-Safi, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Fez-Meknes, Rabat-Salé-Kenitra and Draa-Tafilalet.
