Morocco represents the development model that is the most in line with the values and the project carried out by the European Union (EU), MEP Rachida Dati said.
“Thanks to the deep and bold reforms carried out by its King, inspired by his vision of our common future and spurred by a steady determination, Morocco is today the development model that is the most in line with the values and the project carried out by the European Union”, Dati said in a letter to the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker on the need to strengthen the privileged relationship between the EU and the Kingdom, noting that” in the Maghreb and the Middle East, Morocco stands out as both a stable country and a reliable partner”.
Inviting the head of the European executive to support “the vital” cooperation with Morocco, Dati noted that “in a changing Euro-Mediterranean-African region, the Kingdom can be a link between Europe and Africa, an effective partner, especially in the fight against terrorism and radicalization”.
The kingdom is also “a partner to control the ever-increasing migratory flows to our continent”, the former French Justice Minister stressed.
Morocco, she added, is also a model of development for countries whose economic and social situation is one of the causes of the migratory flows to Europe.
In this context, Dati stressed that it is “essential for Europe and its governing bodies to fully grasp the historical changes that Africa is currently experiencing, notably thanks to Morocco”, calling on the European Commission to “act responsibly by deepening a strategic relationship with Morocco”.
