Ongoing investigations conducted by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) on the terrorist cell composed of 10 women linked to the “Islamic State” (IS) which was dismantled recently in several cities of the Kingdom, led to the arrest on Sunday of two people linked to this terrorist group.

Investigations revealed the involvement of the two people, including the brother of one of the arrested women, in an attempt to obtain chemicals to be used in the manufacture of explosives from a farm located in the southern city of Guelmim, the Interior Ministry said.

This operation led to the seizure of a manuscript containing the list of chemicals used to manufacture explosives and an “IS” flag and to the discovery of writings on the walls of the home of one of the two people arrested glorifying the terrorist group, the ministry pointed out in a statement.

Scientific expertise conducted on the products seized following the dismantling of the all-female terrorist cell has shown that these chemicals may be used in the manufacture of explosive devices.

Ongoing investigations with members of this cell revealed their involvement in the publication and distribution of documents on the manufacture of explosives, the use of weapons and guerilla techniques, in addition to pictures and video footage of bloody crimes committed by IS fighters, according to the same source.

The suspects will be brought before justice pending the completion of the investigation led under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
