OIC: Morocco Enjoys Confidence, Respect for Its Serene Positions on Many Issues

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Amin Madani said, here Monday, that Morocco enjoys “confidence and respect” for its “serene” positions to look for solutions to many International issues.

The signing in Skhirat of the political agreement between representatives of all parties participating in the inter-Libyan dialogue is part of the “serene and balanced” initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom of Morocco, Madani told the press following his talks with Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar.

The OIC Secretary General also praised the role of HM the King, Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, in defending the rights of the Palestinian people, saying that this role “is a source of hope and optimism”.

According to Madani, his talks with Mezouar, which fall within the framework of coordination and consultation about the forthcoming OIC summit scheduled for mid-April, were an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the Islamic world, including the problem of extremism and fanaticism that threatens several Arab states.

“The security and military solution will not put an end to the phenomenon of extremism”, he said, stressing “the need for a comprehensive solution focusing on the sources of the problem and the conditions favoring its outbreak before eradicating it”.
