mobilization full swing in the ranks of the Moroccan community in Scandinavia for a big sit-in on Saturday in the heart of Stockholm, in protest against the position of Sweden vis-à-vis the territorial integrity of Morocco.
The event is organized with the call for actors of Moroccan civil society established in Sweden with the expected participation of a large number of Moroccans especially from Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.
According to the coordination committee in Stockholm, hundreds of representatives of NGOs, activists, political actors and union life and ordinary citizens, women and men, young and old, will take part in this event with the watchword: ” The Sahara issue is a just and sacred cause for all Moroccans. ”
” On behalf of our dual membership, the requirements of democracy and human rights, we invite our government in Sweden to review its attitude and not take the risk, by its haphazard attempt to recognize a puppet entity, to sacrifice good relations with Morocco and cause instability in the region ”, told MAP one of the members of that committee.
” The sovereignty of Morocco is a red line that must not be crossed, ” noted the young Swede of Moroccan origin adding that for this demonstration for the national cause, the entire Moroccan associative fabric, very dynamic in Scandinavia, has undertaken to speak with one voice.
According to a statement received by the MAP signed by Moroccan-Swedish nationals, the autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty solution is’ a guarantee of peace, democracy and more decentralization as Sweden, the country of human rights, must support for building a united and prosperous Maghreb space. ” While stressing the need to protect and strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two kingdoms, a goal to which they constantly dedicated in serving as a bridge between their country of origin and of adoption, the initiators of this event urged the current government led by the Social Democrats and the Greens, not ‘venture alone into a path out of step with the position of the European Union’ ‘on the Sahara issue.
