Morocco Arrested of Six Members of Dismantled Terrorist Cell

The investigation by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ), under the Directorate General of monitoring the national territory (DGST) with those recently arrested for their involvement in a terrorist plan to cause serious security breach and stability of the Kingdom, led to the arrest, on 18 and 19 current, of six other individuals, said Monday the Ministry of Interior.

The arrested persons, whose involvement in this terrorist plan was established, were working in Beni Mellal, in the town of Beni Zrantal (Circle Boujaâd, Khouribga province), in the municipalities of Tagzirt and Foum Laânsar (Province Beni Mellal) at Sidi Allal El Bahraoui and in the city of Tetouan, the ministry said in a statement.

Investigations revealed that these terrorist elements, who have given their cells called “Jund Al Khilafa in Morocco”, as the group with the same name in Algeria who pledged allegiance to the organization called “Islamic State” , preparing to execute targeted terrorist operations in the Kingdom in order to sow panic among the citizens, said the same source.

These criminal elements who attempted to prepare a remote detonation system for mobile phones, planning a suicide attack against one of the prisons of the Kingdom in order to release the prisoners related to “Daech,” the ministry said.

The terrorist cell was dismantled on September 12 with the arrest of five members, who were active in the cities of Beni Mellal, Sidi Allal Bahraoui and Tinzouline (Province of Zagora), said the same source.

Three individuals of that cell were arrested in a house in Essaouira where he was the seizure of four automatic pistols, a machine gun, seven tear gas, electric batons three plus a large quantity of ammunition, suspect materials can be used in the manufacture of explosives and weapons.

The respondents will be brought to justice soon complete the investigation, which is continuing under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.
