Morocco Security Dismantled of Terrorist Cell of Daesh Recruitment
The eight members of the cell were active in recruiting and sending Moroccans to fight in the ranks of the “Islamic State” in Syria and Iraq.
As part of proactive efforts to defeat the terrorist plans in Morocco, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) dismantled on Thursday a terrorist cell composed of eight members who were active in the cities of Casablanca, Tangier , Salé, Jorf Al Melha and Kelaat Sraghna, in the recruitment and sending Moroccans to fight in the ranks of the “Islamic State” in Syria and Iraq, said a statement from the Interior Ministry.
The cell members have endorsed the sending of tens of fighters in this hotbed of tension, and in coordination with elements operating in the field at the Turkish-Syrian border to mobilize and carry out suicide operations of car bombs in Iraq and Syria, the source said.
These terrorist elements are also adopting the expansionist strategy of the leaders of “Daech” which aims to create terrorist entities within that organization on the basis of Moroccan fighters in its ranks, and have expressed their intention to return to Morocco to attempt its security and stability, through the implementation of targeted terrorist attacks.
The suspects will be brought to justice once completed the investigation that takes place under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor, the statement concluded.
