Morocco intelligence Dismantled Terrorist Cell Planned to Attack Tourists

Rabat – The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) under the Directorate General of National Territorial Surveillance DGST dismantled Thursday in Berkane, a terrorist cell of 7 members who declared their allegiance to caliph of the organization “Islamic state”, announced the Ministry of Interior in a statement.

The thorough investigation revealed that members of that cell, in accordance with the methodology of this destructive terrorist organization, had planned to perform in Morocco dangerous terrorist operations consisting of the removal and physical liquidation of people to be taxed hostile to their erroneous beliefs, as well as tourists visiting the seaside resorts in the Oriental region, said the same source.

In preparation to succeed their terrorist plans, cell members have engaged in intensive paramilitary trainings in one of the mountainous regions near Berkane with the aim of tackling security guards to monopolize their service weapons to be used in the assassination of military officials and that, pursuant to a fatwa issued by a head of field “Daech” in Syrian-Iraqi area, the Emir of this cell, the ministry added.

The same source said that the dismantling of this cell comes as part of efforts to deal with terrorist threats, adding that respondents will be brought to justice after completion of the ongoing investigation under the supervision of the prosecution General competent.
