The two countries succeed the United States and Turkey who had chaired this important international forum since its inception in 2010, added the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in a statement.
“This decision, taken unanimously by the members of the GCTF at the 7th meeting of the Coordination Committee held on Thursday in Doha, intervened to cap the commitment of Morocco to the activities of the Forum, which is a fundamental pillar today in the architecture of international fight against terrorism,” says the statement.
This election shows, in addition, “confidence enjoyed by Morocco at the International Community and the recognition of the relevance of its multidimensional National strategy against terrorism,” the ministry said.
The Forum of Global Fight against Terrorism, consisting of over 100 members, regularly brings together policy makers and experts in key areas of the fight against terrorism who are from different regions, the United Nations and other regional and multilateral organizations , the statement said.
