The European Commissioner for energy will begin a visit

The European Commissioner for climate action and energy, Miguel Arias Canete, starts next Wednesday a two-day working visit to Morocco to deepen ties between the EU and Morocco in the field of energy and climate, said Thursday the European Commission.

During the first day of his visit to the Kingdom, the European Commissioner and the Energy Minister Abdelkader Amara, will launch three new Rabat Euro-Mediterranean platform on energy. The goal, adds the same source, is to encourage dialogue and facilitate partnerships between energy players and strengthen cooperation between the countries of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).

The three platforms, covering the themes of gas, regional electricity markets, renewable energy and energy efficiency, will focus on market integration, the development of new sustainable energy technologies and removing barriers to investment in the region, according to the European Commission.

On Thursday, the European Commissioner will co-chair the high-level conference of the UfM on Climate Change to be held in Skhirat and chair later discussions on planned contributions determined nationally (INDC) by countries to a new global agreement Climate in perspective of the climate conference in Paris in December.
