UMA Interior Ministers Council without Algeria
Nouakchott – The interior minister, Mohamed Assad arrived Thursday morning in Nouakchott, to take part in the 5th session of the Council of Interior Ministers of the countries of the Maghreb Union Arab (UMA).
On his arrival at Nouakchott International Airport, Mr. Assad was welcomed by the Mauritanian Minister of the Interior and Decentralization, Mohamed Ahmed Salem Ould Mohamed rare and Morocco’s ambassador in Mauritania, Abderrahmane Ben Omar.
During this session 5é, Maghreb interior ministers will work to complete the review of the security situation in the Maghreb states and their regional neighbors as they will update on national experiences in the fight against terrorism, arms trafficking, drugs and narcotics, organized crime, cyber crime, illegal immigration, trafficking in human beings.
It is also scrutinizing the means to implement a common mechanism in the fight against security threats in the light of the two statements of Algiers (9 July 2012) and Rabat (21 April 2014) on the security problem in the North African region.
In addition, the ministers of the AMU Interior will review the conclusions of the first meeting of the Monitoring Committee in the security sphere (24/25 October 2013 in Rabat) and the two working groups of the fight against illegal immigration (16/17 April 2015 at the headquarters of the general secretariat of the AMU) and civil protection (23/24 April 2015 in Nouakchott).
Mr. Assad is accompanied on this visit, the Wali Managing Director of Home Affairs, Driss Jouhari and Wali Hamid Director of International Cooperation Chabar.
