Paris, Madrid and Lisbon congratulate Morocco for convincing results in the fight against terrorism

Lisbon – Portugal, France and Spain congratulated Morocco for the convincing results in the fight against terrorism, the result of the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated approach and multidimensional.

In the conclusions that have sanctioned the quadripartite meeting of Ministers of Interior of Morocco, Mohamed Assad, Portuguese, Anabela Miranda Rodrigues, Spanish, Jorge Fernandez Diaz, and French, Bernard Cazeneuve, held on Tuesday in Lisbon, Morocco’s European partners within the G4 stressed the central role played by the Kingdom in the fight against the various types of organized crime and terrorism.

After recalling the tragic events in January 2015 in Paris, successive attacks in Copenhagen in February and more recently the Bardo Museum in Tunis, the interior ministers of the G4 countries have increased brutality, organization and the determination of terrorists in their criminal enterprise.

They emphasized, in this regard, the need to dry up the sources of violent extremism including registering their shares as part of a comprehensive approach based both on the fight against radicalization, particularly on the Internet, and the strengthening the means for preventing the movement of foreign fighters and monitor their return to their country of origin and / or residence.

Referring to the scale of drug trafficking jointly affecting Spain, France, Morocco and Portugal, which requires a concerted and permanent readjustment of drug enforcement mechanisms between the partners, the four countries stressed that trafficking Drugs are one of the main activities of organized criminal groups that generate considerable profits.

In the opinion of the G4, the links between drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organized crime, including arms trafficking, require the establishment of a more coordinated and effective approach to tackling these networks.

In terms of police cooperation, the interior ministers agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the G4 countries in order to fight against major threats to the security of citizens.

The four G4 Ministers welcomed on this occasion, the new dynamics of police cooperation is taking place between France and Morocco on all internal security thematic whether in the field of operational cooperation as in that of technical cooperation.

The G4 also stressed the importance of coordination of technical assistance in favor of the Sahel, where appropriate through joint action, forming the desire for engaging synergy and coordination four partners in West Africa in the areas of fight against illegal migration, drug trafficking and money laundering.

The quadripartite meeting in Lisbon was an opportunity for the ministers of the four countries to address three main areas of activity namely illegal immigration, terrorism and drug trafficking.

This meeting follows a first meeting in January 2013 in Rabat and a second held in Paris last year.

The next meeting will be held during the first quarter of 2016 in Spain.
