Nouakchott expels Algerian diplomat who wants to “interfere” in Morocco
The first counselor at the Embassy of Algeria in Mauritania, Belkacem Cherouati was chased by Nouakchott for inciting Mauritanian journalist to write against Morocco.
New twist in the case of the Algerian diplomat responsible for handling a Mauritanian journalist on a pseudo-complaint that Nouakchott apparently intends to file with the UN against Morocco falsely accused of wanting to “invade Mauritania with drugs. ” Belkacem Cherouati, First Counsellor at the Embassy of Algeria in Mauritania, was expelled by Nouakchott.
This indiscreet diplomat had recently visited the newspaper “Al Bayan al-Souhoufi” and would have blown its director, Ibrahim Ould Moulay Ahmed, a false “scoop” suitable for Nouakchott intention of wanting to “make a complaint to the UN against Morocco to a deliberate attempt to invade Mauritania with drugs!”
Monday, April 21, following the instructions given by the Nouakchott authorities, the journalist “manipulated” was convened in the premises of the direction of the Mauritanian security to meet this package.
According to the Mauritanian newspaper Alakhbar Info, the diplomat Cherouati was sighted in the premises of “Al Bayan al-Souhoufi few hours before the publication of the article.”

The response of Nouakchott was not waiting. The diplomat, accused of interference in the internal affairs of Mauritania and prejudicial activities to the foreign affairs of the country, was expelled.
