Morocco has deployed a “great effort” to rescue the three Spanish cavers who fell into a cliff located in the province of Ouarzazate, said Monday the president of the Spanish government, Mariano Rajoy.
“The Moroccan authorities have put a great effort and mobilized all available resources to carry out the rescue operation and evacuation of three cavers who had fallen in a very remote area,” said the head of government in an interview with Spanish national radio (Rne).
Rajoy paid tribute to “the good will and cooperation of the Moroccan government” since the beginning of the location and rescue operation, noting that this operation, “difficult and complicated”, helped to rescue the third caver group.
“Since the disappearance of the three cavers, Moroccan authorities have been in direct contact with the authorities of the Ministry of Interior and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation,” he said.
The three cavers had fallen into a high cliff several hundred meters located in the town of Tarmest, under the Rural Municipality of Iminoulaouen.
