More than 1,300 participants to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Marathon des Sables

The route of the 30th edition, which is spread over 250 km, is varied and history, by what has been decided this year to a compilation of the most beautiful places in Errachidia and that made the fame of the Marathon of the Sands , said the director and founder of the MDS, Patrick Bauer, in a statement to MAP, highlighting the diversity and richness of the sites, such as dry lakes, Jebels, dunes and Ergs.

He said that the large number of competitors required a tremendous job in the organization to master all aspects related to security and logistics of the caravan of the MDS, expressing the will to do better than the edition 2014.

At the competition, the battle will be tough, especially in the presence of Rachid El Morabity, the defending champion, and Mohamad Ahansal who, with five wins to his record and experience, will want to probably regain the top spot. But other contenders will surely lurking, as the winner of the Ultra Trail World Tour 2014, François D’Haene, outsiders Danny Kendall (England), Carlos Sa (Portugal), Antoine Guillon and Christophe Le Saux (France ).

This 30th edition will also see the return of Lahcen Ahansal, 10 wins, who will participate as a guide runner for a German participant.

One team that draws attention this year is that of 4 Dinosaurs MDS, consisting of equity recordmans: Christian Ginter (27 participation), Karim Mosta (26 entries), François Cresci (26 entries) and Paolo Zubani, also with 26 participations, or 105 Marathon des Sables in four of them.
