Morocco has won 14 seats in the Index of Economic Freedom in respect of 2015, said a statement from the Department of the Head of Government, which refers to the annual report of the American Foundation “The Heritage Foundation”, released last Tuesday in Washington.

The Kingdom has moved from 103rd (58.3 points) to 89th place (60.1 points) of the ranking established in collaboration with “The Wall Street Journal” and includes 186 countries, the statement added.

Morocco is well ranked among the country where “freedom is moderate”, as countries such as Turkey, France, Italy and Spain.

According to the report, Morocco has made the best progress in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) to be ranked in 8th place on this scale, behind the Gulf countries and Jordan, and led all countries of North Africa.

In Africa, Morocco won 6 positions and ranks at the eighth rank.

The Kingdom has achieved this positive result thanks to several reforms, including the facilitation of foreign trade and price stability, the statement said.

The report notes that the reforms planned by the government in the coming months are likely to allow Morocco to further improve its ranking.
