Rabat – The National Training Caravan in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Educational Robotics was launched Tuesday in Rabat, with the aim of strengthening the pedagogical and technical skills of educational professionals in the use of AI and computational thinking in classroom practices.
Organized by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in partnership with the “LOOP for Science & Technology” association and with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Morocco, this initiative is part of the integration of emerging technologies into the education system to leverage them for improved learning.
Speaking at the event, Ilham Laaziz, Director of Educational and Digital Resources at the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, noted that this initiative aims to enable administrators from the twelve Regional Academies of Education and Training (AREF) to support the accelerated digital transformation.
She added that the training workshops will benefit 30 administrators at each stage, representing the different levels of education. These instructors will serve as a core group to amplify the training’s impact on the ground, she emphasized, while also highlighting the importance of integrating programming and robotics with fundamental learning.
For his part, Benjamin Ziff, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Rabat, described the initiative as “a bridge of innovation between the United States and Morocco” and a strategic investment in training young people for the jobs and industries of the future, opening up broader horizons for high-quality, advanced education.
This program will enable teachers to guide students toward the responsible and safe use of technology and strengthen their digital skills, he explained, expressing his hope that this initiative will inspire future generations and encourage them to explore the possibilities of science and technology.
For her part, Imane Berchan, a founding member of the “Loop for Science and Technology” association, emphasized the importance of practical application through interactive tools that facilitate teachers’ integration of technology into lesson and exam preparation, as well as positive interaction with questions regarding the security of digital tools.
She also noted that the adoption of hardware and robots offers learners the opportunity to closely examine AI mechanisms and train its algorithms within a stimulating learning environment based on exploration, experimentation, and playful learning.
According to its initiators, the caravan will travel through the different regions of the Kingdom via subsequent training stations in order to bring this experience into classrooms and popularize the culture of innovation, so as to help lay the foundations for an educational institution in line with digital changes.
