Rabat – The national market will remain regularly supplied with energy products until the end of the year, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali said.
The stocks of various petroleum products currently available cover a period ranging from 40 to 60 days and are subject to daily monitoring, thereby ensuring the continuity of supply to the national market, she told the press following a meeting of the Ministerial Commission tasked with monitoring the repercussions of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East on the national economy, held under the chairmanship of Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
The availability of several stocks makes it possible to strengthen national reserves of certain products, particularly butane gas and gasoil, which are considered essential products for the Moroccan economy and households, the minister noted, stressing that the ministerial commission conducts daily monitoring of the supply of various energy products, particularly petroleum products.
For her part, Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah said that fluctuations in fuel prices on international markets are being monitored and that the necessary financial resources are being mobilized to support affected sectors, particularly transport, in order to mitigate the impact of these pressures on professionals.
These measures, she stressed, also aim to limit the potential effects of these fluctuations on inflation, whose rate, according to available data, is under control and relatively stable.
These measures send a reassuring message to transport professionals, as the mobilization of financial resources to support the sector will continue until the end of the year, thereby helping to mitigate the effects of the current situation, she said, stressing the importance of continuing, in the coming weeks and months, public policies aimed at supporting sectors affected by successive fuel price increases.
For his part, Minister of Industry and Commerce Ryad Mezzour said that Morocco is able to meet its fuel needs and ensure a regular supply of the national market.
Several measures have been taken to limit the repercussions of international price increases on prices in Morocco, he said, explaining that these measures aim to protect the purchasing power of Moroccan citizens and limit the impact of rising fuel prices on Moroccan households.
The Ministerial Commission tasked with monitoring the repercussions of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East on the national economy meets regularly, whenever necessary, to take appropriate measures in line with developments in the international situation.
